Earlier this year I recruited an Interim Engineering Director to lead a transformation and new factory build for a traditional, but rapidly growing defence manufacturer. The company is long-established and has won business that will see it quadruple in size over the next couple of years. The MD had a £50 million pound CAPEX plan signed off to start a site-wide transformation, however he needed to get moving fast and didn’t have the team required to do this.
The solution was a professional interim who has seen what good looks like earlier in their career, who had then gone on to build a proven-track record of transforming Engineering in less mature, rapidly growing environments, building new teams and new factories. My candidate made an immediate impact to current manufacturing, whilst ensuring this significant CAPEX programme has run smoothly.
As a professional interim he brought specialised expertise and that has driven results rapidly and more cost-effectively. A permanent candidate would have cost 60-80% of their first year's salary with search fees, relocation costs, severance benefits etc. And my client would have had to wait at least 3 months. Instead, what they got was a very experienced interim, who for various reasons no longer wanted to form part of the permanent workforce, and therefore got a higher calibre of leadership expertise than they could likely have hired permanently. #interim #interimrecruitment #interimengineering
