Our client is a renowned and long-established British manufacturer, part of a successful multinational conglomerate. Based on the South Coast, with several thousand employees across multiple sites, our client supplies a global customer base that is known for choosing products based on quality of design and finished product.

Profitable and growing, they have a vision of transforming their business from being a traditional manufacturer to one that embraces modern techniques and world class standards that improve quality, cost and delivery, without detracting from what makes their products and the company great. Recent financial investment into the business encompassing marketing and product development, combined with the advancement of the people agenda, shown by recent executive hires, is a clear indication of the desire for further growth and performance in the short and long term.

This is an exciting opportunity for a talented Site Director who has lived and breathed World Class Manufacturing, taking what they have learnt and pragmatically applied it successfully into different environments changing them for the better. 

Reporting to the board you will be fully responsible for the factory, supported by the site leadership team including production, supply chain, quality, engineering etc. Leading the site strategy and budget, you will oversee a workforce of circa 400-500 personnel, taking accountability for a change management journey encompassing an effective and inspiring leadership style while implementing modern manufacturing methodology to drive site performance.

In partnership with Quality, Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering and HR, you will define the site culture and environment required to manufacture the next generation of products; develop structures, systems and skills within the existing and new workforce in readiness to meet and successfully overcome the challenges as they transition from a being a traditional to world class manufacturer.

Who we're looking for?

  • A proven track record leading autonomously a large manufacturing operation, with a multi-discipline team, within a complex component, assembly or OEM environment such as automotive, aerospace or yellow goods.
  • Extensive leadership skills with a history of delivering progressive cultural change enhancing employee capability and business unit performance.
  • Experienced in driving measurable and sustainable site performance improvement through implementation of world class manufacturing techniques.
  • Complete ownership of Quality, Cost, Delivery and Safety.
